At 901 Navajo Street in Denver’s La Alma–Lincoln Park neighborhood, our team is proud to be delivering Cranes Landing, one of the most meaningful and impactful projects in our portfolio. As the general contractor, we are helping bring to life a 190-unit affordable housing community paired with an integrated health care clinic, designed to better serve American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities.
From the beginning, this project has been guided by purpose. A land blessing at groundbreaking set the tone, grounding the work in respect for history, culture, and community. Values that continue to shape every phase of construction.
Delivering Impact
Cranes Landing reflects a holistic approach to development, addressing both housing and health. Developed by Mercy Housing Mountain Plains, the project will provide a mix of one- to four-bedroom units, including permanent supportive housing, alongside an 18,000-square-foot clinic operated by Denver Indian Health and Family Services.
As the general contractor, our role is to bring this vision to life with precision and care. From site work through structural completion and into interior buildout, our team is focused on delivering a high-quality project that aligns with the broader mission behind the development.
The building has reached key milestones, including topping out at seven stories, and work continues to progress across interiors, building systems, and exterior elements. Each phase reflects close coordination with project partners and a shared commitment to delivering a space that will serve the community for generations.
A Community-Informed Approach
Cranes Landing is deeply rooted in the history and needs of the Native community in Denver. Today, more than 200 AI/AN tribes are represented across the region, many with histories shaped by forced relocation during the 19th and 20th centuries, followed by generations of systemic challenges.
Understanding this context has been critical. The project team has engaged in an extensive community outreach process, including meetings, focus groups, and surveys, to ensure the development reflects the voices and experiences of those it is intended to serve.
Consistent feedback highlighted the importance of acknowledging the lasting impacts of displacement and disconnection including tribal identity, family, and land. Just as importantly, it reinforced the need to create a place that fosters belonging, supports wellbeing, and reconnects residents to community and nature.
Constructing with Cultural Awareness
In response, the design and construction of Cranes Landing emphasize both functionality and cultural relevance. Working alongside partners including RATIO, the architects leading interior design, as well as Denver Indian Health and Family Services, Native American Housing Circle, Amaktoolik Studios, and others, the project reflects a collaborative, community-driven vision.
Key design elements include spaces intended for gathering and connection, outdoor areas that incorporate native plantings, and features that support cultural practices. These are not just design details, they are essential components of creating an environment where residents feel seen, supported, and at home.
As the general contractor, our responsibility is to execute this vision with care and attention to detail, recognizing the importance of every element in supporting the project’s goals.
Navigating a Complex Urban Site
Located within a dense and active part of Denver, the site presents unique challenges. Surrounded by residential buildings, transit infrastructure, and a vibrant neighborhood, construction requires careful planning, coordination, and communication.
Our team has worked diligently to maintain schedule, prioritize safety, and minimize disruption, while continuing to deliver quality at every stage. These efforts are made possible through strong collaboration with trade partners and the broader project team.
